  • Yes, many people do this when they can't find a suitable house on the market. I actually know someone who is going to do this themselves, as they want a house in a particular area where there are no houses for sale at the current time. I would approach the person/s carefully, you don't want to offend them with cheeky offers. Try to have a chat with them and ask what they would consider to be a fair price and negotiate from there. If they show interest in selling you have a good chance, plus the fact you will be the only person they will be dealing with, so no offers from other parties, it could simplify the process. Good luck.

  • You could start with a simple note through the door explaining that you love the look of the property and if the would consider selling at any price now or the future then to contact you. A friendly and easy way to open up discussions,. good luck

  • You could also use your Estate Agent who understands what you are looking for. We've had that a few times. Putting a note through the door is normally just scrunched up and put in the bin. Try just enaging with the current owners, knock on the door and just tell them how it is - you would like their property and if they would consider selling to contact you.
