What's it like to live in Beckenham?
Is it an area on the up? Is it a safe area?

I would suggest that you look at the local authorities’ website to see what the crime statistics etc for this area are, this will also give you a guide to house prices and movement of the market within the area. You can also look at the local tourist board website which gives you an up to date overview of the area.

Beckenham is best viewed as a commuter base for central London. Although there are no tubes, there are excellent train lines into such as Cannon Street, London Bridge, Waterloo & Victoria. Also Faringdon. Despite this - and for reasons I've never quite fathomed - property prices are very much lower than (say) Clapham when the journey into town takes around the same time and is usually much less unpleasant. If you have kids, but don't have the money to go private, it is important to live near the decent schools (such as the two Langley Park ex grammars). Otherwise, Beckenham is fairly dull & uneventful, although the High Street does change character (for the worse) at whatever stands for chucking out time these days.
