What does no DSS mean in rental places?

  • DSS was the abbreviation for government funded property payments, i.e. LHA payments are Local Housing Authority payments.

  • Agree with all of the above. Please note that this is solely the landlords choice, if he would like to accomodate a tenant with housing benifits or not. It is not generally an issue, however some landlords may be wary of this and therefore may ask for some form of rent in advance. I hope this helps

  • Hello I am a Landlord, I don't mind where the money comes from to pay the rent, as long as it's legal. I do have great difficulty getting insurance for DSS Tennants and when I do manage to obtain cover, it's more expensive. So that may well be the case for many properties. Kind regards Andrew
