I would suggest that you look at the local authorities’ website to see what the crime statistics etc for this area are, this will also give you a guide to house prices and movement of the market within the area. You can also look at the local tourist board website which gives you an up to date overview of the area.

Grew up here in the 80's and it was a very vibrant busy town at that time with plenty of shops, several nightclubs and lots of pubs. A bit of a ghost town these days and both nightclubs and quite a few pubs and more shops have closed/boarded up. It needs a revival and property is quite cheap but most have to commute to Aberdeen or Dundee as there is no local employment. A lot of people have left and new people arrive but most people know everyone else like every town - folk are friendly enough though.
