  • As good as any. Beautiful and compact city centre, world tourist destination, heritage, entertainment, loads of restaurants, pubs and clubs, not far from seaside, easy access to road and rail network, good schools...what more could you ask?

  • Great if you're a student! Otherwise, not so much...

  • Canterbury is a great place to live. I moved here from London 20 years ago and have never regretted my decision. The city is vibrant, cosmopolitan, beautiful and compact. There are lots of students and lots of tourists in the summer but their spending power means that the locals benefit from a great cultural life. 3 (soon to be 4) cinemas, 2 theatres, numerous galleries and more bars and restaurants than you can shake a stick at. The cathedral is of course stunning and the link with the church quite strong - an open air carol service on Christmas eve is always led by the Archbishop which can't be bad. If you like cricket then Kent play most of their matches in the city at the only ground with a tree inside the boundary. The rugby and hockey clubs play in national leagues. Canterbury festival is a month long arts festival which features music, dance and theatre of all types including a fantastic Spiegel tent in the grounds of the cricket club. I love the place and can't imaging living anywhere else.
