Is it necessary to have a National Insurance No. in Property buying ?

Do I need to have a National Insurance No. in purchase of property in UK ? After purchased property, do I need the NI No. to pay tax or refund tax in UK ?

  • As far as i am aware it is not necessary to have a National Insurance No. before you can buy a Property in UK. Information about National Insurance Nos can be found at http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/Taxes/BeginnersGuideToTax/NationalInsurance/IntroductiontoNationalInsurance/DG_190057 You should obtain a RICS Homebuyer Report (or perhaps a building survey) from a local Chartered Valuation Surveyor before commiting to purchase a property, attacxhed link refers.
