  • Hi Ceri, The easiest way to find out the age of your property is to get in touch with the local council. In most cases, they should hold information on when your property was first awarded planning permission, and this should allow you to work out when it was first built, approximately. The next port of call after this will be to get in touch with the Land Registry. Although they cannot tell you when the property itself was built, they will hold records that show you the first time ownership of the land itself was transferred. This means if it was sold by the developer, you can generally tell the time it was built. Apart from this, you can also contact the estate agent who actually sold the property last. They often have on their survey notes a date when the property was built. This may well be the most accurate way to get the answer you need. Many thanks, Scott
