What's it like to live in Castle Cary?
Is it a safe area? Is it an area on the up?

I live right in the middle of Castle Cary (off Bailey Hill behind the Market Hall) and it is absolutely idyllic, such a perfect little town, full of handsome honey-coloured 18th century architecture, and buzzing with independent shops and tasteful art galleries and antique shops. The atmosphere is so friendly and good natured - spend an afternoon at The George and you'll soon get to know what's going on and who's who. I live there for the walks, there are 3 major national walks going right past my house: The MacMillan Way (Douglas Macmillan lived in Castle Cary), the Leland Trail, and the Monarch's Way. Within 5 minutes of The George you're up on Bailey Hill with the most incredible views of the Somerset levels and several other counties, it's breath taking (in every sense depending on how fit you are!)
