What's it like to live in Darwen?
Are the people friendly?
Is it an area on the up?

I would suggest that you look at the local authorities’ website to see what the crime statistics etc for this area are, this will also give you a guide to house prices and movement of the market within the area. You can also look at the local tourist board website which gives you an up to date overview of the area.

Very nice and I felt safe ( there for a couple of years 2003/4 ). You would need cable or sky though as the TV reception is awful: it is near Winter Hill transmitter but large hills block it ! Yes overall a pleasant place esp Cemetery side ,south on A666 without big town or city attitudes.

Darwen is a GREAT PLACE TO LIVE!! We have some of the most wonderful countryside around us, three large beautiful parks, two brand new schools, brand new health centre and a good selection of independent shops and traders. Loads of choice when it comes to places to eat..... It's very safe, the people are nice and down to earth. Loads of jobs (if you want to work!) and it's handy for the mortorway too. I could go on forever...... it is where the kettle was invented, where Perspex came from, famous for Crown Paints and more.....

We would suggest that you get in touch with local estate agents in order to get some background about the area.
You can search for agents using the ‘find agents’ tab on the top of the Zoopla Page.
We hope this helps.
