Can I buy a property as a foreign national?

Could you please tell me if I can buy a property as a foreign person when moving to the UK? What are the regulations? For example; minimum living costs in the country etc?

  • There are no restrictions on foreign nationals buying property in the UK, HOWEVER, your lawyer (ideally UK based) will have to comply with money laundering regulations and ask you to prove your identity and be able to prove that any monies you put into the property from overseas were not obtained from the proceeds of crime or terrorism.

  • Hi, There are no restrictions as to who can buy the property as long as you have the funds to do so. You will need to pass checks a like anyone else does when buying a property and would advise you speak to your solicitor about this. We hope this helps.
