Standard practice among agents?
I recently used an agent in Dundee to find a tenant for a new BTL property. After about a month, the agent found me a tenant but said they would only pay £20 less a month than the rent I had set. Surely, if they really had wanted to pay £20 less they would have been looking at properties with that rent, and not at properties in a higher rental bracket. I strongly suspect the agent suggested to them that they should pay the lower rent in order to secure a tenancy with them, and then presented it to me as if it was the tenant who insisted on the lower rent. Is it common practice among letting agents to secure tenants by suggesting a lower rent, or did I just choose a "bad" agent?
