What's it like to live in East Cowes?

Are the people friendly? How does it compare to the areas around?

  • The town is generally very quiet, with lots of families and older people. People are friendly and there is a sense of community. There are a couple of pubs but no trouble so you can walk around at night and feel safe. The town is up and coming due to plans for regeneration - we are supposed to be getting a new Waitrose supermarket. However, we already have a Somerfield and a Co-op, post office, library, deli, (several) hairdressers, hardware store, home wares, pet shop, and cafes etc. Lots of green areas too - two parks/recreation grounds. Plus the beach. So, compared to surrounding areas we have a lot of facilities but not much night life. However, it is easy to walk into Cowes for restaurants, pubs, sailing events - without having to live with the noise.
