Leasehold extension wanted

My bungalow has just over 24 years to run I live on my own & cannot afford to buy the lease the lease is owned by Brighton & Hove council if I ask them to extend it have you got any idea at all how much they will charge me. I shall be 88 when the lease runs out but I might still be around & it's a bit of a worry that I might be out on the street at 88.

  • Best approach them and ask if you can buy the freehold from them, if they won’t sell it I am sure the council will extend the lease for a nominal sum, best do this now sooner rather than later. I used to deal with a few houses in Roedean which were leasehold something that happened after the war to help build houses etc, and nearly all the properties there are now freehold owned outright so the council must have sold the owner their freehold. Let me know how you get on should be straight forward.

  • I would recommend that you contact APA Associates and speak with Andrew or Tom. They are lease specialist and one of the best in Brighton and Hove in my opinion. Check out our website below for more information on this topic.
