What's it like to live in Ceylon Place, Eastbourne?
Hi, we are buying a property in Ceylon Place which is near Pevensey Road. I heard that these used to have a bad reputation. Is this still the case and is there a lot of crime in this area. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I grew up in Ceylon Place when the traditional guest house was in its hay day. Unfortunately since then the area has gone down hill and is mainly accommodation with Houses of Multi Occupancy, bedsits and flats. Both Ceylon Place and Pevensey Road have had their problems as a lot of the occupants are on benefit and don't seem to care about anything other than their next 'fix'. If you have a car you might find it hard to park as their is. very limited parking around. I wouldn't recommend this area - Eastbourne has far nicer places to live.

I would suggest that you look at the local authorities’ website or police.gov to see what the crime statistics etc for this area are . You can also look at the local tourist board website for that area which gives you an up to date overview of the area. I would also visit the area and ask some locals.
