What's it like to live in Ellon?
What kind of people live around here?
Is it an area on the up?

I would suggest that you look at the local authorities’ website to see what the crime statistics etc for this area are, this will also give you a guide to house prices and movement of the market within the area. You can also look at the local tourist board website which gives you an up to date overview of the area.

We would suggest that you get in touch with local estate agents in order to get some background about the area.
You can search for agents using the ‘find agents’ tab on the top of the Zoopla Page.
We hope this helps.

I'm not sure what you mean about 'on the up' - I would say, being a commuter town for Aberdeen and tied to that economy, house values are pretty stable and good while being more reasonable. Also, with the dual carriageway currently being extended all the way to Ellon commuter time will drop by a lot and make it even more attractive. It has enough nice amenities that you don't have to to go into Aberdeen (several good restaurants, excellent bakery, fish & butcher) and Tesco on the outskirts. The main town has maintained it's charm. There is a nice river walk along the main street. Parking is pretty easy. It's nicely kept (flower displays, etc) good bus service (and a park & ride). Lastly, there are things like a personal gym/trainer/bodywork place (Studio 34), community gym (33 fitness machines) crystal shop (Jules Gems)and local pilates classes if you're into a bit more alternative stuff. So you are in the country with good local amenities but it's also close enough to Aberdeen to go to a movie or something (25 minutes without traffic). Brew dog is here - great beer garden! We did a lot of local research before moving here 10 years ago and have been very pleased with our decision. Hope this helps.
