With the current school restructuring there is no certainty of living near a good school - some are being closed/merged. There are school buses for children to get to schools further away, such as the Catholic high school in Carisbrook, Newport. East Cowes currently has 3 primary schools to choose from but will soon only have two. Most towns are good to live in as the Island is very child friendly - lots of beaches, green areas and fields for exploring. The Isle of Wight College does a good range of courses but many go to college (and university) on the mainland, so living near a ferry port has it's advantages.
