  • Hi DariuszKorcz, Loft conversions carried out in areas governed by Watford Borough Council do not normally need planning permissions as such, but in order to find out if you are permitted to carry out one, you will need Building Regulations approval. You can find out the required conditions that need to be satisfied by following this link http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/loftconversion/. The main points that you will need to satisfy before you will be given approval include making sure that the floor of any proposed bedroom or other living space is sturdy enough to support the additional weight and stress of being lived in, that the structural integrity of the roof is not only healthy, but that it will not be compromised by the building, and that there are safe stairs to the conversion planned. You will also need to take fire safety into account and provide safe routes for escape. Thanks, Scott
