Is Rochester a nice and safe place to live?

Me and my partner have been looking to buy a house in Rochester around Rochester Avenue, which is quite central.. We both work in London and would be commuting. We got a really good feeling from the place and think it has a lot to offer as well as being affordable but want to know if people enjoy living there and feel safe?

  • I have known people to move and live there. They feel comfortable and safe with its surroundings such as Rochester Castle, its relaxing esplanade and fantastic high street. There's loads of other stuff besides this that suits most. I am a Rochester resident having moved from London for some 12 years. I'd say go for it. Find the house that feels right in the area that you can afford and also feels right. I cant say what it is because it means different things to different people. Rochester area to me has that 'right' feeling. I'd say go for it.

  • We moved! Thank you for replying to the post. I have to say We really love it since moving and exploring. It feels like a really special place, with the cobbled streets and lamps and castle etc. People here are very friendly and the high street feels thriving especially at the weekend. Nice place! Love coming home on the train to the place with the castle over the bridge and river :)
