Relocating to Lancashire - Transport and Safety Issues

Hello everybody! I am relocating to Lancashire soon. Are there particular bits of the city or the surrounding area that you would recommend? And which bits or places should I rather avoid? I'm also considering the possibility of living somewhere nearby (must be well connected by public transport though), because I'm not much of a city person, although I haven't quite made up my mind on this respect. Would you suggest living on the coast for example or rather some smaller towns in the countryside? Which places are best connected to the city? According to what I've seen in Preston there are postcodes where the crime rate seems to be much higher than average: is it really so bad? Would you say that safety is an issue more than in other places in Lancashire? Thank you very much!

  • Lancashire is a county not a city. If you want to be near Manchester, Rawtenstall located in the Rossendale Valley is a good place to live and commute from as there are direct bus links. Rossendale is a quiet low crime place, below average. I moved here a few years ago and am originally from down south! Lancashire is lovely and very old and worldy - St Annes is also a good place to live but expensive, South shore blackpool, white gate drive area is also good place to live - Good Luck :)
