Is it better to decorate areas of my property that require attention or to leave it as it is?

My hall stairs and landing are a bit shabby. It's the area of the property that greets visitors.

  • Hall stairs and landing get the most wear in many houses, 'if' selling it is a good idea to spruce up these areas as it will be the first thing viewers see when they walk through the door.

  • Depends on what the present state of the property is. If expensive stuff is needed like a new bathroom or kitchen, buyer will probably value choosing stuff themselves. If the decorations are unlikely to have any but a minority appeal (eg strong colours) then a lick of paint in neutral shades may well help. Decluttering is a must and costs little. The advice of your agent can be valuable.
