Is it better to decorate areas of my property that require attention or to leave it as it is?
My hall stairs and landing are a bit shabby. It's the area of the property that greets visitors.

Hall stairs and landing get the most wear in many houses, 'if' selling it is a good idea to spruce up these areas as it will be the first thing viewers see when they walk through the door.

Depends on what the present state of the property is. If expensive stuff is needed like a new bathroom or kitchen, buyer will probably value choosing stuff themselves. If the decorations are unlikely to have any but a minority appeal (eg strong colours) then a lick of paint in neutral shades may well help. Decluttering is a must and costs little. The advice of your agent can be valuable.
