What's it like to live in Highams Park?

Is it an area on the up? Is it a safe area?

  • Highams Park is a great area to live. Still not really on the map and certainly not as well known as Chingford and Woodford. Although it has changed quite a bit over the years - it was like a little village when I moved there over 25 years ago - it still retains a village feel with its level crossing (I think the last one left in London) and small centre with pleasant coffee bars and decent restaurants. Highams Park train station takes you in to London Liverpool street in around 20 minutes so commuting is not a problem and the schools (Highams Park secondary & Handsworth Primary) are very good. The greenery and wide open spaces of the local park and forest, that contains a picturesque boating lake, is great for getting out in the fresh air and walking the dog.
