What's it like to live in Upper Walthamstow?

What are the pros and cons of living here? What kind of people live around here?

  • It has excellent transport links (tube, rail, bus station). If you like shopping then it's a very stress-free 20 minute tube ride to the heart of Oxford Circus but if you want to enjoy locally, there's Walthamstow market which is Europe's longest market with abundance of fresh fruits and clothes shopping. There are also two huge supermarkets (Asda and Sainsbury) within a 5 min walk of each other. The local historic village conservation areas are absolutely breathtaking with their churches and old architecture. The area is made up of a melting pot of cultures and are noticeably young.

  • Heading away from London you can explore Epping Forest and surrounding countryside within ten minutes in a car. There are lots of play schemes for youngsters, nurseries and school break activities unlike some boroughs too. Nightlife is low key but some very good restaurants at very reasonable prices and typical "Queen Vic" style pubs that often have live music or similar. Once again you can be in bubbly Islington in 10-12 mins on tube where nightlife is more upbeat and concentrated.

  • Hi, We would suggest that you get in touch with local estate agents in order to get some background about the area. You can search for agents using the ‘find agents’ tab on the top of the Zoopla Page. We hope this helps.
