What's it like to live in Waltham Forest?

Is it a safe area? How does it compare to the areas around?

  • It has excellent transport links (tube, rail, bus station). If you like shopping then it's a very stress-free 20 minute tube ride to the heart of Oxford Circus but if you want to enjoy locally, there's Walthamstow market which is Europe's longest market with abundance of fresh fruits and clothes shopping. There are also two huge supermarkets (Asda and Sainsbury) within a 5 min walk of each other. The local historic village conservation areas are absolutely breathtaking with their churches and old architecture. The area is made up of a melting pot of cultures and are noticeably young.

  • I agree with the other response, I moved here from Coruch End as we were totally priced out of buying in that area. I told people I was moving to the ghetto, I was wrong! My street is so quite compared to other places I lived, I hear the birds in the morning and we have a pet squirrel. If you are raising children its great as there are loads of amenities. There is poor night life, so it isn't a great place if you like to socialise locally. I go into Islington, it takes less than 20 mins and to commute to Victoria takes about 3o mins. I have to say its very central, people are friendly and the prices are not as obscene as other local areas.

  • Hi, We would suggest that you get in touch with local estate agents in order to get some background about the area. You can search for agents using the ‘find agents’ tab on the top of the Zoopla Page. We hope this helps.
