Can anyone recommend good tradesmen in Putney or Wandsworth?

I am having a bunch of work done and so looking for the whole kaboodle: reliable plumber or plumbing firm, electrician, plasterer, handyman / builder for small projects and the like. Looking for referrals from happy local customers only.

  • Noticed your ad, thought you may need decorators at some point - I am a Dulux Select decorator , sole trader (co. name Decorum, please look on website I am listed there under Decorum), fully insured and all Dulux work guaranteed. My tel is 07982997891 or home 0208 870 1629. As for other trades, I have often worked often alongside Terry Mcguire, who has access to all trades and is well respected recommended in the area - tel 07956320242. Feel free to contact either of us to discuss, look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Kenneth Jackson Decorum

  • I just did the whole schindig at my flat. Total job 55,000 quid for a 1 bedroom so you can imagine the amount of work involved. The people who I bought my second kitchen from recommended a builder called Dave Hudson and I went along with him. His number is 07711152513. He did an excellent job. Took more than anticipated and the painting job could have been slightly better otherwise all good. I would definitely use him again. Tell him Sid Sharma recommended him and he'll take care of you.

  • May we help with some advice on finding a good tradesman? The best way is by personal recommendation asking friends or neighbours about people they have employed - so that you can find out about the contractor's workmanship and reliability and also inspect the work that they have done. If you know one you know has employed the type of professional you are seeking, look around your neighbourhood for properties, where work of the type of work you want is being carried out - many contractors put up signs or park their van outside houses that they are working on. Telephone directories and local newspapers are your next port of call - Yellow Pages, Thomson's local list contractors by trades. Display advertisers are useful because they usually indicate whether the person or company member of a relevant trade organisation. But remember that such claims can be bogus. So always check with the organisation concerned before proceeding. Ask firms that you have contacted by telephone to put you in touch with local customers for whom they have worked for. So that you can call and enquire about them personally.
