  • Depends what you mean by best. Some of the houses along the bank of the river Hamble command substantial 7-figure prices including Old Bursledon and Hamble-le-Rice on the west bank and Swanwick, Sarisbury Green and Warsash on the east bank all in SO31 postcodes. further inland there's plenty of nice villages in rural locations with SO32 postcodes around Bishops Waltham etc. these are the farthest east with SO postcodes, although they are technically outside the boundaries of Southampton city, being in the boroughs of Eastleigh, Fareham & Winchester respectively. Netley Abbey is nice too, which is also SO31 but closer to the city boundary than all the others (i.e. not so far to the east)
