If lease is for 20 years what happen after 20 years?

I want to buy a home, lease for 20 years and £110,000 mortgage, do I have to pay back the money after the 20 yrs and hand back the home or what will happen?

  • Yes, after 20 years the house reverts to the freeholder. The price of a 20-year house is effectively 20 years rent in one go. It should be about half price of a long lease property.
