Buying as a non-citizen of UK

I am interested to know whether as a non-resident of UK, am I eligible to buy property in UK? I am willing to pay in cash and will not be applying for Mortgage? I am a resident of Bangladesh and want to know whether the UK government allows such purchases. Suggestions and advice welcome.

  • I believe you can purchase a property as a non UK resident, however you would need to speak to a solicitor who would need to validate who you are, where the funds came from and so on.

  • I agree with the above answer, there is no restriction on property purchase in the UK by non-residents. if you are purchasing in cash however you will need strong evidence of where the cash came from/how it was accumulated to satisfy the UK Money Laundering regulations. You should use a UK solicitor for the transaction and it would be this solicitor who would want to satisfy themselvs regarding the money laundering regulations. Good luck.
