Can a non UK resident buy property in the UK?

If yes, What are the legal processings and documents required ?

  • You will have to check with solicitors as we have money laundering checks in place - I don't think you can get a mortgage in UK as non resident!

  • Yes you can buy a property and you can also get a mortgage although your choice of lenders will be restricted and you will likely have to provide a bigger deposit. Apart from proving your identity, address and source of funds the process of purchase is exactly the same. If the property is for investment purposes then could I recommend Repolist. Repossession properties are usually cheaper as they are sold distressed. Best of luck.
