Looking to buy a property in London or elsewhere to take full advantage of rising house prices and healthy rental market. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • One of the problems that many London investors face is a low rental yield as generally the property prices in London are high. I have a friend who has a successful London property portfolio that it generates him a good income. this is because they are HMO's and he has turned a couple of downstairs rooms into bedrooms aswell. Advertising for tenant on Gumtree always seems to work as you get the right type tenent looking ie room incl bills 1 month notice. Nowadays there are certain regulations ie locks and fire doors to consider and also some lenders can be difficult if they know it's a HMO they would rather it was a standard let. In general though you are right there does seem to be a prediction of rising house prices, even George Osborne admits it.
