Can you buy a flat in London near Carnaby street for $225 or less?

Are there any 2 beds available for $225 or less in the center of London? We want to buy for summer use and rent the rest of the year to recoup costs. Are there any other areas with a similar vibe and access that you could recommend?

  • I think you are at least three zeroes short of a deposit!

  • Do you mean a 2-bedroom flat for $225K or less, in the center of London? The answer is NO, sadly. You won't even get that price for WAY out of the center of London. Think Manhattan prices! That's only £140K (at the moment; the exchange rate has been dropping in your favour for the last few weeks). Take a look on Zoopla searching within "London" between £130K and £140K, flats with 2 beds, and ignore the Senior Housing, Shared Ownership, Auctions, and cash-only, and you'll see places like Plaistow, Enfield, and further out, and take a look at what you're getting for your money (and in all of London, there are 6 properties that meet this criteria at the moment! 6 in a city of 7 million!). It's not much, and it's certainly not where Americans who come to London want to live (I'm an American btw and live in London). Even in Woolwich (zone 4, 30-45 min by transit into the center), where I lived until 2 months ago, you won't get much for that money, and even though there are nice enough areas in Woolwich, you would need at least double that. Anything for that price wouldn't be particularly nice. You can get a studio near Carnaby Street for $940K though ;-).
