  • You will get a different answer depending on who you ask. There's millions of people that do it though so it must be worthwhile, and most started in exactly the same position as you. There are loads of landlord forums on the internet where you can ask landlords questions and get a feel for if it's right for you or not. One thing I would seriously consider is instructing a good local letting agent. Not only will they have years of experience and a list of potential tenants, they'll take away the stress and look after pretty much all aspects of being a landlord, for what is in comparison a relatively small commission. Check out the link to a large landlord forum I've provided below. Best of luck with it.

  • It's totally dependent on your own circumstances and what kind of resource you have, most of all, your time. Acting as a private landlord will be the greatest task as you will need to market your property and arrange everything on your own. Therefore, if you have not got the experience, or time, it would be best to instruct a local letting agent who could help. They could help in a variety of different ways from tenant find only services, to rent collection or to fully managed services. We hope this helps.
