  • Hi peterbenjamin, A reception room is essentially a room in which you welcome, host or "receive" guests. So technically, it can be any room in which you hold a party or any other sort of gathering. However, when it comes to listing your property, you need to be a bit more uniform of course, and a reception room then has specific definitions. It needs to be a room that is not regularly used for other purposes - so a living room or a large kitchen or the like cannot be considered a reception room at any time. However, things like a conservatory definitely can be a reception room, and they are often worth building as part of an extension to any home purely for this reason. Many thanks, Scott
