Who pays for the agency fees - buyer or vendor ?

Who pays for the agency fees - buyer or vendor ? Is it a normal practise in UK for a property agent to ask the buyer to pay the agency fee and to pay into the property agent company's bank account ? What's the market value of agency fee for a property value of BP120K?

  • It is usually the seller that would pay the agents fee, and this is usually settled by their solicitor on completion.

  • Hi, In most cases it will be the responsibility of the seller and not the buyer to settle the agency fees, because it will be the case that the seller has hired the agent to sell their home for them. It is not normally paid until the sale of the home has been finalised, and it will most often be the case that any fees are arranged and agreed to by the agent and the sellers' solicitor. Many thanks, Scott

  • Hi, It is usually down to the vendor (seller) to pay the agent fees in terms of a sold property. We hope this helps
