What's it like to live in Mitcham?

Is it a safe area? Is there much greenery in the area?

  • Funny enough I currently live in mitcham with my family, I have been living in Mitcham since 1990 so I know the area quite well. I had a short spell away from mitcham between 1992 and 1996 when I lived in nearby boroughs. To me living in mitcham is like living in any other area within UK, mitcham has good schools, places of worhip, good and transport link. Houses are still considerably affordable compared with near by boroughs. And if you search very well and carefully you can still get good properties to buy or to rent at affordable prices. Property investors are still heavily investing in mitcham as the rental income is equally good if you can negotiate very well.

  • Hi, We would suggest that you get in touch with local estate agents in order to get some background about the area. You can search for agents using the ‘find agents’ tab on the top of the Zoopla Page. We hope this helps.

  • Mitcham is like most outer London areas, though still very rural in comparison to other close towns like Wimbledon and Croydon. Mitcham is host to the oldest cricket ground in the country, has a small town centre and with a high number of local businesses. The ethnic minorities make up most of the local shops. If you want to be close to London but also away from the busy life of London, then Mitcham is a good place to consider. Property prices are still reasonable in comparison to other areas.
