  • Hi Guga30, The cost of council tax does not depend on the size of your property or where it is directly. It is calculated on the value of your house in April 1991 and then put into a tax band dependent on this. The value and banding is decided by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), which is part of the Inland Revenue. However, if you know the value or the band of the property in question, then you will be able to check out pricing on the website of Reading Borough Council. Follow this link to see the costs for the current tax year: As you will see from that website, prices in Reading for council tax range from £999.18 per year for band A (properties that cost less than £40,000) all the way up to £2,997.52 for those in band H (1991 valuation more than £320,000.01).
