I paid off my mortgage about 1 year ago, did I do the correct thing by doing so?

  • If its right for you its right for you, you now have 100% ownership of an accect which no one can take away from you, with a mortgage of any size there is still an element of risk as rediculus as it may seem a house can be repossessed for a matter of a few hundred pounds.

  • I would say yes, the old adage about getting rid of it as quickly as possible is still valid. Your are now insulated to a certain extent against negative equity and the chance of reposession which is more than many will be able to claim over the next few years.
