Time spent looking for a house

I've just spend quite some time using all the wonderful search criteria on this website to narrow down the number of properties I will need to read about in order to draw up a list of closer inspection. This is my first time and as a cash buyer, I think it is entirely down to me to make my choice. My question for anybody who has had a clear idea of what they are looking for in a property, is how many hours per week did you dedicate to your property search alone and in the end , how many man hours/days do you think you spend on finding the property you eventually bought ?

  • Interesting question - I would say it depends on how particular you are about what you want. Some people may take considerably longer as they have have specific needs, whereas for others, it may be the opposite. You may also be lucky and come across something that you like within the first couple of searches. The market has a part to play as well - in London and the South East, for example, the amount of stock coming on to the market is pretty slow so there is not much choice.
