What are drawbacks to leasehold?

Depends how long the lease is, what you have to pay in service charges and ground rent. In your part of the UK, there are houses with 999 year+_ leaseholds with no service charges and and 1p a year ground rent. These are all but freehold in name.Be careful to buy anything with less than 50 years less on the lease. Good luck! Christopher

Freehold is much better if you can get it, doesn't really matter if you have something like 999years on the lease.
