It is impossible to be categoric. Whilst there are areas throughout the country which are more prone to subsidence, problems are often localised and due to specific causes such as trees, leaking drains or mining (remember the bus which fell into an old mine working in Norwich?). If you are buying any property have a survey (not a valuation). If you think your own house might be affected speak to an engineer of surveyor and then, if necessary, your insurance company.
