Is Planning permission needed for a caravan?

Can you tell me if you need planning permission to put a static caravan on a piece of land which I intend to buy and which already has planning permission for a house?

  Not for a tow-caravan, but if you were to park a static home type van, it might do. Best to check with your local council.
