What's it like to live in Oldham?

How does it compare to the areas around? What are the local amenities like?

  • Oldham is generally a great place for amenities we have great transport networks and plenty of choice in supermarkets, shopping, swimming baths. Housewise it depends on the area you want to live, there are a few rough areas as with most towns but there are also some lovely areas. I would say the most desirable are north Chadderton, Royton, Saddleworth although I think Chadderton is the best for transport with plenty of buses and Mills Hill train station into Manchester city centre in 12 mins. Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsburys are all within 10 min drive. Royton has a great community in the centre with lots of bars and restaurants.

  • I would suggest that you look at the local authorities’ website or police.gov to see what the crime statistics etc for this area are. You can also look at the local tourist board website which gives you an up to date overview of the area. I would also visit the area and ask some locals.

  • Hi, We would suggest that you get in touch with local estate agents in order to get some background about the area. You can search for agents using the ‘find agents’ tab on the top of the Zoopla Page. We hope this helps.
