Gidea Park and Chadwell Heath are not comparable - both contain contrasting housing stock and amenities. As a commuter, Chadwell Heath is two stops closer to London Liverpool Street. It also has much better shopping amenities that on most occasions, for groceries, would not require the trip into central Romford. The majority of the housing is modest Victorian terrace and semi detached, many without garages and concreted over front gardens for off road parking. Gidea Park on the other hand contains a greater variety of housing stock from million pound mansions, arts and crafts cottages, attractive mock tudor detached houses and semis, to more modest interwar terraces and ex-council. Shopping wise, there are a few independent shops on the Main Road but your best bet is a trip into Romford, although there is a Tesco Extra superstore near the Gallows Corner.
