What's it like to live in Saltash?

How does it compare to the areas around? What are the local amenities like?

  • I lived in Saltash for five years before moving to Callington. It is much bigger than Callington although it is obviously smaller than Plymouth. It is reasonably quiet and safe. The town centre has various shops and facilities although it is quite small and does not have any chain stores etc. Mainly independent shops. There is a Waitrose supermarket on the outskirt of Saltash and a Co-op in the town centre. There is a health centre with swimming pool and gym. Saltash is very close to Plymouth so you have access to many other things. There are several pubs. You have older areas of Saltash, newer built areas, council areas etc.. because it is bigger there is usually quite a large choice of housing on the market. People in Saltash are fine, it is not dangerous and crime is low. People in Saltash can be a bit unwelcoming to outsiders, e.g. you might have trouble making friends with people in the pub. They won't be nasty but won't be open to new friendships! Saltash doesn't have the rural feel of the nearby Cornish towns but you do have the extra facilities there.
