Flat Roof House Purchase.

What should I look for when buying a house that has areas of flat roofing? Should I also give the surveyor any specific instructions? Thanks.

  • Flat roofs have a limited life, although the likely lifespan will depend on the materials used. You would be wise to make your surveyor aware of your concerns but the extent to which the roofs will be inspected will depend on the type of survey requested. For example a Homebuyers inspection is from the top of a ladder or from overlooking windows. A building survey should involve the surveyor in getting onto the roof and having a good poke around.
