Skegness property - to buy or to rent?

My child is studying in a boarding school in Skegness. I am thinking of moving there to accompany her. And we should leave here after her graduation. I want to know if it is more advisable to invest in a property now and then sell or rent it a few years later. Or it is better to just rent a property. When I search, I found there are very few property for rent especially furnished but quite a lot of property for sale. What will be the implication in buying a flat or a house. In terms of price, house is much more expensive but their renting income shows little difference to flat?
