  • Hi tcooper51, According to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Rics), the cost of a homebuyer's report will be entirely dependent on the price of the house you are looking to have surveyed. On average, the charge will be somewhere between £250 and £400. However, they are invaluable to have done, as these reports will highlight any issues that are present in the house to you before you commit to buy, allowing you to sidestep any potentially large problems that might have cost you more down the line. Despite this though, the company said that only 20 per cent of people across the UK get them done. If you do decide to carry out a home report though, using a local surveyor who has better knowledge of the area you are buying in will often mean that the outcome is more accurate. Many thanks, Scott
