Where can I find flooding history of low areas in East Tilbury and how does this affect home insurance in the area?

Have seen a great looking property in East Tilbury but I am concerned over the potential for flooding and consequent difficulties in getting insurance. Any info on flooding history and current premiums appreciated.

  • We would suggest that you check on the land registry website for the history of the property, you could research on the internet too to get more background details. You should contact a few Insurance companies who will be able to advise you on their policies regarding the property. Good Luck!

  • Records of flooding will be available from Thurrock Council and with regard to flood insurance, I understand that in general most insurers are satisfied with the fortification of sea defences along the Thames Estuary to limit the flood risk and consequently do not charge substantially more for normal flood risk insurance.
