What kind of people live around here? What are the local amenities like?

  I would suggest that you look at the local authorities’ website or police.gov to see what the crime statistics etc for this area are. You can also look at the local tourist board website which gives you an up to date overview of the area. I would also visit the area and ask some locals.

  Don't bother! In 5 years I had my shed broken in to 3 times, attempted break in of shed a further 5 times, all my cars vandalised, 1 written off by a drunk driver at 4 in the afternoon, I had my cars broken in to, egged, mirrors smashed paintwork keyed (shall I go on?). Never did I feel safe. So happy to be well away from it and back in England.
