Will estate agents carry out valuations for tenants who are thinking of buying the home they are renting?
I have been told by a couple of estate agents that they cannot carry out a valuation for me as I do not own the property. If they cannot do this, how do I go about valuing the property?

I'm sure one of the nice estate agents on Zoopla Q&A will happily give you a valuation.

Umm, you could just call an agent in and normally they would not ask if you are the owner they just assume you are. But do bear in mind if you are asked you will have to own up but if not you should be able to get a valuation letter from them.

I see your logic but it's not you as the tenant who will be setting the sale price of your home, it will be the vendor, so any valuation an estate agent might do wouldn't mean a great deal. If you are looking for a second option on value or some negotiating "ammo" just ring a local agent, I'm sure they'd be able to advise you.
