Stamp Duty and Disadvantaged areas.

The HMRC website is saying that CH45 is in a disadvantaged area and so is stamp duty exempt. Is this correct?

  • If the HMRC is saying it, it must be true.

  • We would suggest that you check with a solicitor, just to be sure. We are pretty sure correct though.

  • Disadvantage Area Relief (DAR) can be checked on the HMRC website using your postcode. Simply go to http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/so/dar/dar-search.htm and search by postcode. To claim DAR relief from Stamp Duty your solicitor needs to complete a form as part of the house purchase.
