Stamp Duty and Disadvantaged areas.

The HMRC website is saying that CH45 is in a disadvantaged area and so is stamp duty exempt. Is this correct?

  • We would suggest that you check with a solicitor, just to be sure. We are pretty sure correct though.

  • Disadvantage Area Relief (DAR) can be checked on the HMRC website using your postcode. Simply go to and search by postcode. To claim DAR relief from Stamp Duty your solicitor needs to complete a form as part of the house purchase.
